Hi! I'm Simon, an illustrator and graphic designer based in North Yorkshire, UK.

I create fun, colourful and quirky visuals for print, digital and motion projects – character design, 3D illustration, vector art, hand-drawn lettering, maps, branding, and more besides. My work blends bold vector art with 3D and hand-drawn elements, and has been described as "quirky and irreverent, with a very appealing sense of silliness".

What's House of Deadleg?

In the early days of the internet, when I was getting back into illustration and design after years of being thoroughly put off it by further education, I spent a lot of time on design forums on sites like Computer Arts. For my username I picked "Deadleg", just because it was a funny word, and I had an idea for a silly little logo to go with it.

A few years later, after building up a small portfolio and with a growing interest in web development, I decided it was time for a proper website. I registered deadleg.co.uk and ran it happily for quite a few years, and then one year, I forgot to renew it. Rather than fight to get the domain back, I decided to start fresh with a new name. It needed to feel like a one-stop shop for all my work, a department store of everything I was working on and interested in, Deadleg had to be in there somewhere too, and so "House of Deadleg" was born.

Forums have mostly faded away since then, and I've been making more of an effort to be front and centre with my real name rather than hiding behind a pseudonym, but all my social profiles are still under houseofdeadleg, so the name lives on. For now at least.
