I've recently been thinking about the kinds of illustration projects I like the most and that I'd like to do more of. A dream project would be to design a range of cereal box characters, and as no-one's currently asking me to do them I thought I'd just go ahead and make them myself! These are the first two in an on-going mini-series of cereal box artworks/characters – Pieces O'Eight, the delicious, sugar-frosted corn snack, and Zombits, the chewy braaaiiinnns based cereal snack.
I'd love to get some merch printed with these characters on as the range develops, so I've also developed a slightly 80's retro two-colour version for screen printing onto t-shirts, mugs, etc. A custom printed cereal bowl would be amazing!
Simon took our initial concept to very loose script and created a list of illustrations we needed to make our whiteboard video simply work. He delivered the first few illustrations in sketch form, and we knew he was going to nail it. On budget and on time every step of the way, Simon was not only a genius illustrator but a lovely person to work with. He has a talent for taking the everyday and making it sing. He delighted our audience with his clever and cute characters, and went beyond what we thought was even possible. We'd work with him again in a heartbeat. Jennifer del Greco, pndu.org
